» What is Wedding Etiquette for the responsibilities of the Mother of the Bride?
As the Mother of the Bride, your main responsibility will be to cater to the Bride’s needs. Be available to help her in any way that you can, and keep in mind your following responsibilities:
- Go with the Bride and help her pick out her wedding attire. This is not only good Etiquette, but a moment that you won’t want to miss!
- Help the Bride and Groom set a good budget. Since it is the Bride’s family that usually pays for most of the wedding, it is important that you have input on how much that will be spent.
- Create a guest list for the wedding and get the list of the groom’s family. Once you are done with this help the Bride order invitations. Also, it is your responsibility to accommodate any out of town guests that you invite from your side of the family.
- It is always polite to choose the gown that you will be wearing to the ceremony as soon as possible. This way, you can inform the Mother of the Groom on what color and style it is so that she can accommodate.
- At the ceremony, your job is to light the family candle at the beginning of the ceremony. You will do this with the Mother of the Groom.
- Remember that your main responsibility is to help the bride. Throughout this entire process, keep in mind that this is her wedding, and things should be done her way, not yours.
