As the Best Man, it is your main responsibility to aid the Groom as he gets ready for his big day. This means that you are responsible for the following:

Before the ceremony, help the Groom get ready. Also, make sure the Groom has the marriage license with him. Then, get the ministers fee from the Groom. You will give this money to the minister privately following the ceremony.

If there is a ring bearer at the ceremony, it is your responsibility to look after him and make sure that he understands his duties.

Assist with car arrangements and luggage arrangements for after the reception. Also, make sure that the groom has the airplane tickets!

Before the ceremony, tell the ushers which ladies will be receiving corsages and make sure that they don’t seat them before they get them.

Be the first at the reception so you can welcome the Bride and the Groom.

Make the first toast at both the reception and the rehearsal dinner.

Help the Groom get ready to leave the reception, and make arrangements for there to be flowers at the Newlywed’s honeymoon suit.
