Do men’s and women’s wedding bands have to match?
Not anymore. In the past it was common, but nowadays men and women have the freedom to choose wedding bands that best reflect their personal style. It is no longer important for them to match. Select a ring that represents your personality and taste, and let your fiancée do the same.
How do you match a wedding band with an engagement ring?
Many engagement rings have matching wedding bands, which offers an easy solution. If yours does not, or you do not like the wedding band paired with your engagement ring, you will have to shop for a wedding band that coordinates well with your particular ring. Again, a good jeweler can help you with this. Describe to them what you are looking for, and they can help point you in the right direction.
How are wedding bands sized?
An experienced jeweler can correctly size your finger. You will probably want to have your ring finger sized more than once, at different times of the day. Temperature can affect your ring size (fingers are generally smaller in colder weather) as can significant weight gain or loss. You want the ring to fit firmly enough so that it will not slide off, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable.
It bothers me to wear a ring. Any there any alternatives?
Some wedding bands are made in what is called a Comfort Fit style. The ring is more curved around the edges, making it more comfortable on the finger. Many people who do not enjoy wearing rings may find a Comfort Fit ring makes a big difference.
Should we have our wedding rings engraved?
It is up to you. Some couples find engraving an extra special touch. Engraving is done either by hand or by a machine, depending on the jeweler. Make sure your ring is sized properly before you have it engraved and allow enough time to receive it back for the wedding. As far as choosing what to engrave on your wedding band, the best advice is to keep it short and make it special.
