·        An online database: An online database is really no different from a regular database except it is held on a central compute or server and can be queried by remote users from any place on the Internet. Here are the main reasons for using an online database:

o       Integrated into HTML – An online database is integrated into HTML of a website and information can be queried by users using an online HTML form.

o       Combined with templates – An online database can be combined with a set of templates to generate and display web pages dynamically. In some cases, this type of database can also be referred to as a content management system or CMS.
