If you are running a business, you know the importance of information, particularly the content it contains. Everyday you are surrounded by paperwork. You either have to make up presentations, or create a document of some type of a meeting or project. Whatever it is you create, you must do it on your computer to save time. It is hard enough to run a business without having to worry about the content you create and what will happen to it. There is a way around this. It is called content management. Content management deals with the aspect of controlling content, especially in digital format. Many companies use content management in one form or another. Depending on the type of content created, content management has been a necessity, even a godsend. If your business does not use content management to control your flow of digital content, you are making things harder on you than you need to. You need to get into the flow by going the many that have content management systems in place. How do you get started? Before you do anything here are some facets of content management you need to know first:
· Content author: This is the person who is responsible for creating and perhaps editing the content.
· Editor: If the author does not edit the work after creating it, then he will transfer control over to a person who fine tunes the information to get it ready for delivery.
· Publisher: The publisher is responsible for taking the final product and releasing it to the public or the rest of the organization for use.
· Administrator: The administrator takes over control of the content after it is released for use. He will place it where it can be accessed by others. He may even go to the point of controlling who is allowed to see and use the content.
· Viewer: This is the person who needs to read the information for various purposes or reasons.
