What are the Advantages of Using an ASP

Think about this. ASPs are tremendous advantages over regular ways of delivery. Here is a list of some of these advantages:

 

·        Low cost: The great advantage for small businesses and startups is the low cost of entry. And the setup time is very short.

·        Easy payment system: ASPs provide you with a pay-as-you-go system. This alone can say you countless amounts of money considering the high cost of software today.

·        No head count: Think about this one. ASPs have set up an arrangement where they outsource the application. This eliminates any head count. And you know how expensive IT people can be, particularly when they specialize.

·        No IT infrastructure: In using ASP, you eliminate the IT infrastructure. You don’t have to hire anyone create the application or run it. This includes any supporting applications as well.

 

The basic premise behind developing ASPs was the high cost of applications and software. This includes specialized software. As software became more sophisticated, it also became more expensive to buy. This in turn hurt many businesses. This is where the ASP comes in.

 

Another reason ASPs came along was the complexity of software applications. Not only is software expensive to purchase, but it has to be upgraded constantly, which just adds to the total cost of owning it. And add to this the many workstations a company may have. You may be talking about 10,000 or more computers that need upgrading. This could cost the company literally millions of dollars. Many companies don’t have this kind of money to spend. So instead of owning it, if all companies had to do was pay a small fee to use the application; this would be a tremendous relief for them and save companies a lot of money and frustration.
