Before you can register your domain you have to come up with a good name for it. There are ways of coming up with a name that will stand out. You also have to remember that a domain name will reflect what your business is about. You want it to stand out. In order to choose the right name for your Website, there are some guidelines that can help you. Here are some points that if followed will make your choosing easier:
· Write it down: In order to know what domain name would be good for you is to write down the name of your business. Try to keep it short and sweet. At this time, create a list of possible names that you can come up with around your business name. Try to make it catchy, keyword rich, and appealing to search engines.
· List of services: List on another piece of paper your list of services that you perform and from that list write down some names you could use for those services.
· Products: Do the same as above, except if you sell products, write down all the products you sell and come up with a list of names around those products.
· Catchphrases: Think of catchphrases you could use that are create and easy to remember.
· Personal names: If this Website is for your personal interest, use your own name or your pet’s name. You could even use names for your hobbies if you have any.
· Visit Whois.com: As you think of the names you created above, visit Whois.com and see if the name has been taken. If it wasn’t taken, you’re in luck. If it has been taken, try alternatives to the name.
· Use different suffixes: Instead of using just .com extensions, you other extensions like .net or .org. But only if .com is not available.
· Ask to buy domain name: If the domain name you really want is taken, and you can’t settle for anything else, look up the owner of the domain by going to Whois.com and contacting the owner about possibly selling his domain name to you. Perhaps he is not using the domain and would be willing to sell it at a reasonable price.
