Northern Virginia is the home to many Southern cities such as Alexandria, Middleburg, and Fredericksburg. Since much of Northern Virginia is just a short drive from Washington DC, there is even more culture and history at your fingertips than in many other places. In Northern Virginia, you can find places tour, shop, and dine; however, to do all these things, you will probably also need a place to stay.

Your first choice to make when finding a Northern Virginia accommodation is what style of lodging you’re looking for. For several levels of prices, you can stay at a Bed and Breakfast, an inn, or a hotel. The hotels in this area are fairly standard. Holiday Inns and other inexpensive travel lodges are readily available for a price anywhere from $40 (with reduced rates) to over $100. Here are some of the favorite cities in Northern Virginia and some of their featured accommodations:

• Alexandria – The Almost Heaven Bed and Breakfast is friendly and very close to city sites. The cost of rooms ranges from about $100 to $150.
• Casanova – This scenic countryside city in Virginia offers The Poplar Springs Inn and Spa, an intimate boutique focusing on luxury. You can obtain a package at this Spa for between $300 and $550.
• Fredericksburg – Battlefields, wineries, and old plantations are very near the La Vista Plantation Bed and Breakfast, which can be visited for $135 to $165 a night.
• Middleburg – Very near the antique shops and horse shows in Leesburg, Manassas, and other Virginia cities, the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast is on a historic farm and costs between $95 and $225. The Red Fox Inn and Tavern is also located in Middleburg, which costs $151 - $250 a night for a stay at one of the most popular Country Inns nationwide. Longbarn, the 100-year-old Middleburg barn costing $76 - $150, is also a favorite.
• Rochelle – The Ridge View Bed and Breakfast offers stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a popular destination for those wanting to travel the area. Its rooms range in cost from $115 to $130 a night.
• Mineral – Giving a remarkably accurate picture of an early 19th century plantation, the Littlepage Inn is a favorite Virginia destination. And ranging from $76 - $150, it is also very affordable.
• Culpeper – The Hazel River Inn is a classic inn offering lovely dining and comfortable rooms while still only costing between $76 - $150 a night. The Fountain Hall is Culpeper’s first bed and breakfast and demonstrates elegance and grace with the same affordability as the Hazel River Inn.
