Can Tho, with a population of about 1.2 million people, is located in the southeast part of Vietnam, not far from Ho Chi Minh City. It is a port city of the Mekong River and is located in the Mekong Delta.
Can Tho is most well known for its tremendous production of rice, one of the staples of Vietnamese cuisine. The city produces over half of the country’s rice. It is the Mekong Delta’s most important location for economy, education, and culture. It is serviced by a small airport and a large freshwater port.
