Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and is centrally located in the northern region. It is the second most populous city in the country and is home to many of the country’s fantastic tourist attractions and opportunities.
The country’s most popular tourist attraction, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, is located in Hanoi. Ho Chi Minh was the famous Communist leader who gained such enormous popularity that he is referred to as “Uncle Ho” and the country’s largest city was renamed for him. His mausoleum, the location of his tomb, is part of a large complex dedicated to the memory of the former president, including his former stilt home and presidential palace. It is a must-see for tourists visiting Hanoi.
Other interesting sites include the One Pillar Pagoda, the Old Quarter, the Lake of the Restored Sword, the Temple of Literature, and the Quan Thanh Temple. If museums are more the fare you prefer, there are many from which to choose: the National History Museum, the Revolution Museum, and the National Museum of Fine Art, among many others.
