If it is ski season, you might want to alter these itineraries to include a day on the slopes. Killington is the king of Vermont’s ski country. It is large, bustling, efficient, and fun. There is a broad range of slopes for beginners on up. Some find the area to be far too touristy, and opt for ski towns with a more local flavor such as Stowe or Sugarbush.
If it is foliage season, don’t miss driving route 100 through the Green Mountains. It affords some of the best leaf-gazing in the entire country.
History buffs have options-a-plenty in Vermont. Many of the towns and villages have local historical societies, often housed in beautiful old homes with period furnishings. There are also many homes available for tours.
Traveling in Vermont is highly seasonal, and many options are closed during the winter months. Always call ahead to make sure your destination is open for business.
