There are also specialized schools, private schools, colleges, and universities located in the Salt Lake City area. ·        Elementary Schools: The elementary schools in Salt Lake City go grades K-6. Of the 27 elementary schools in the school district, 4 have a uniform requirement, 3 are year round, and 3 have both a uniform requirement and are year round.

·        Middle Schools: There are 5 middle schools in the school district schooling grades 7-8. 4 out of 5 of the middle schools have a uniform requirement in place.

·        High Schools: The Salt Lake City public school system has 4 high schools grades 9-12.

·        Specialized Schools: The Salt Lake City public school system offers a Career & Technical Center where students can learn skills and trades that will get them ready for the job market. The school district also offers the Salt Lake City School for the Performing Arts. The School for the Performing Arts focuses on teaching student’s music, theatre, and the arts while also teaching a regular curriculum. Since the school is apart of the public school system there is no tuition. Students are selected by open enrollment and a lottery process.
