Jorvik Viking Centre

Another major attraction for York. As Jorvik is its previous name during the reign of the Vikings, it offers a great insight to how they lived and how they supported their families.

This attraction is very unusual as it gives you the opportunity to experience the smells that would have been common during this time. It sounds vile, but I can promise you it isn’t that bad. With this trip it attracts many visitors daily and it is recommended you book in advance so you don’t have to potentially wait in line for hours.

A guide in a traditional Viking costume will take you through most of the trip when you are then transported throughout the rest of the exhibit by cart. It isn’t that long a trip but is worth it and you can pick up some excellent souvenirs from the gift shop. Should you require any information you can contact the 24 information line on 01904 643211.
