Derbyshire is not just limited to endless caverns and theme parks, it is home to an excellent history and there are plenty of museums and castles to showcase part of the outstanding city this county has to offer.

One place that many are unaware of, is the Eyam Museum. It is not completely unheard of but unless like me you visit Derbyshire all the time, you may not find these things out until the last minute if at all.

The Eyam Museum which opened in the late 90’s, offers an excellent insight into the plague disaster that hit this small village many centuries ago. It is suitable for educational visits and the there is so much to learn about this village and for a nice location at the same time, what more can you want.

Top Fact: Eyam Hall is a beautiful historic house which has been home to the Wright family for 300 years and it stands in the very centre of Eyam, it has survived through the plague and is the top choice for general visits and even weddings. It is a beautiful onset to finish off such a welcoming village.
