Breakfast

Unless you are staying at a dedicated bed and breakfast, Derbyshire doesn’t have a large number of places that you can visit for getting a good breakfast and the best thing to suggest apart from purchasing store bought items, is to visit the local Tourist agency who can advise you on places to eat.

AM and PM Activity

For the second day, I would consider in taking in some of the history that Derbyshire has to offer. The number one option available would be to visit one or several of the many caverns as a result of the county being a major mining community.

All tours are guided but they tend to be well run and you are treated to a thorough and interesting past of how miners and their families lived during this time.

Poole’s Cavern is located in Buxton and is a natural limestone cavern that is over 5000 years old, these guided tours are very enlightening and can be a great educational visit whilst it is enjoyable. Prices are reasonable for the extent of the trip starting from £3.20 up to £5.80, it is best to book ahead if possible and you can call the manager on 01298 26978.

Dinner

At the end of a long day, you may be too exhausted to cook and I would either stopping at a local take away or visit another one of the many restaurants/pubs Derbyshire has to offer. If you want peace and quiet then I suggest going to the Miners Standard in Matlock and as the name suggests, it was a place that the mining community used to visit often, there are many hauntings associated with this pub (if you like that sort of thing) and the food and welcome you will receive is excellent.
