Day One

After all that travelling the night before, you may be famished and ready for a hearty meal to prepare yourself for the day’s events. There is nothing on site for breakfast but if you would prefer, there is an onsite shop which offers all essential necessities like milk, eggs and bread.

 

For the first day, I would highly recommend visiting Dovedale which you will find near Ashbourne, its beauty is breathtaking. It is suitable for hiking or just sitting by the river and having a picnic. You need to be prepared however, because there is a walk along several stepping stones and this may not be suitable for younger children. It is a great place to spend the day and many children enjoy swimming in the river during hotter months.

 

After such a beautiful day, it will finish it off nicely with a wonderful cooked dinner. I suggest visiting the Packhorse Inn, Buxton, it offers an excellent service and the food is outstanding. You can take advantage of beautiful views that overlook the countryside and in the summer months, it makes a really enjoyable evening.
