» Day 2
Breakfast:
For the second day I would consider cooking a breakfast in your holiday accommodation because it can give you an early start for the last day so you can take full advantage of the last day of your break. It will save time trying to find somewhere to eat and will not waste any time.
AM and PM Activity
For your last day, I suggest going out with a bang and taking a trip to Alton Towers. Located only a couple of miles from Ashbourne, there are fun times to be had and it will make your break complete by scaring yourself silly with large white knuckle rides.
Prices are reasonable and with the advantage of purchasing photos of yourself whilst on some of the scariest rides, it will surprise you have much fun you had and think, did I really go on that? That is part of the magic of Alton Towers and there is fun to be had for everyone.
Lunch
Alton Towers offers plenty of different types of eateries available from cafes and restaurants to the regulars such as McDonalds and Burger King. It is not an option you have to take up because there are plenty of lovely greens overlooking the rivers to have a picnic and it makes a wonderful end to the last day.
If you are unsure where you would like to dine then I would suggest referring to the Alton Towers website because it can offer details on what eateries are available and I can guarantee prices won’t be increased just because they are located in a theme park. Prices are the same as normal stores throughout the country.
Dinner
For your final night I suggest having an elaborate meal in a really nice restaurant because no matter how much you enjoyed your holiday, a lovely meal will finish it off perfectly.
I recommend the Country Cottage Restaurant in Matlock which offers outstanding English and French cuisine at a reasonable price. There is a menu to suit all tastes and whilst it can cost on average £27 per head, it will prove to be worth every penny. The restaurant may not be suitable for families so it is best to ask ahead that they would accept children in the first place.
The restaurant is a beautiful 16th century cottage and offers a personal setting with only seating for a maximum of 20 people. It is always important to book ahead because it is an extremely popular restaurant and for more information or a reservation, call 01629 584600.
