Weather is Thailand is characterized by three seasons: the hot season, the rainy season and the dry season. The dry season is from the end of February to the end of May. The rainy season is from June to October, and the dry season (which is also characterized by cooler temperatures) is from November to February. Southern Thailand has only two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. Most travel guides will recommend a trip to Thailand between November and February, though prices are generally cheaper in the other seasons. Temperatures in northern Thailand range from highs in the upper nineties in the hot season and highs in the upper seventies in the cooler months. In the southern region, the temperatures generally range from the seventies to the lower nineties all year round. In the northeastern region and central plains, the temperatures can soar above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the hot season, but remain in the pleasant seventies and lower eighties in the cooler (dry) seasons. The biggest weather threats to Thailand are drought and occasional flooding.
