For the shopoholic, Bangkok can be like heaven. As mentioned, Chinatown offers a variety of wares, especially textiles, at some of the cheapest prices you will find in the city. A wonderful market where you can spend your entire day is called the Weekend Market or Jatujack. It is located in the northern side of the city and is not too far from the Sky Train. You can find just about anything here: flowers, food, electronics, clothes, furniture and antiques, and many different kinds of handicrafts, including pottery, paintings, woven goods and so forth. There are also a few indoor (and air conditioned) markets located around the city that offer some of the same types of goods (especially handicrafts). One popular one is located across from the World Trade Center Shopping Complex in the vicinity of Siam Square. Many modern malls are found all over Bangkok, with some containing high-end boutiques and others offering great bargain shopping.
Entertainment abounds in Bangkok with clubs, bars, concerts, art exhibits and festivals. English newspapers are easily accessible and can give the latest information on what’s available.
