The city of San Antonio is comprised of 412 square miles, while the metropolitan area consists of a region about ten times this size. Demographically speaking, San Antonio is predominantly Hispanic (58%), with other population segments including Caucasian (32%), African-American (7%), Asian (2%) and Native American (1%). The metropolis includes several institutions of higher learning including, but not limited to: The University of Texas at San Antonio, Our Lady of the Lake University, Trinity University, St. Mary’s University, Alamo Community College, and the Baptist University of the Americas.
