Locations

The greater San Antonio metropolitan area is broken into three locations: the downtown San Antonio area, including the world famous River Walk, North San Antonio, near the airport, and West San Antonio. We’ll share the best hotels at each location using several different criteria.

 

 

Hotels are plentiful in the downtown area of San Antonio. If you stay in this area, you can easily enjoy the beautiful River Walk, San Antonio’s world famous cobblestone walkway that winds all through town and borders the San Antonio River on both sides. The River Walk is surrounded with shops, eateries, cafes, clubs and more.

The Hyatt Regency San Antonio is one of the finest hotels in all of Texas. The hotel located directly across the street from The Alamo, boasts a gorgeous view of the city. It is extremely close to the Convention Center, and features a 16-story garden atrium. The San Antonio River actually flows right through the lobby of this unique, breathtaking hotel, which has recently undergone a $16.6 million renovation. Amenities include bath robes in each room, a fitness center, multiple pools, and the River Terrace Lounge.

This Marriott property is loaded with fabulous amenities, both those you would expect from any hotel, and those you would expect from a four-star property like this one. There may even be a few amenities that will surprise you! These include newspaper delivery, concierge services, a pool that is both indoor and outdoor, safe deposit boxes, sauna, indoor parking, and several restaurants/cafes/lounges on-site. It is conveniently located on the River Walk, within easy walking distance from the Convention Center.

 

Name: Holiday Inn San Antonio Downtown

This Holiday Inn is located on Market Square, the largest Mexican market area in the world outside Mexico, and one of San Antonio’s most popular locations. The River Walk is just a short stroll away, and you can take a trolley to many of the city’s other tourist sites from here. This 2 ½ star hotel has a convenient restaurant on the premises, as well as a beautiful outdoor pool surrounded by spectacular landscaping. There is also a fitness center and laundry facilities.  

 

 

This area is nearest the San Antonio International Airport, something you’ll want to consider if you’re traveling to the area by plane. This area includes the suburbs of Alamo Heights, Castle Hills, Leon Valley, and Balcones Heights.

 

Name: Omni San Antonio Hotel

Location: 9821 Colonnade Blvd.

This is the only 4-star hotel available in this area, and you can stay there for a reasonable price for a hotel of this quality. The hotel is located an easy 15 minutes from the airport and offers a gorgeous view of the downtown San Antonio skyline. Nearby attractions include the IMAX Theatre, the Hertzburg Circus Museum, and Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Some of the amenities at this fine hotel include free airport shuttle, a fitness center, newspaper delivery, two pools, in-room Nintendo 64 games, and a restaurant.

 

Name: Holiday Inn Select San Antonio Airport

This Holiday Inn property is just a mile from the airport, and only ten minutes from the River Walk and the other attractions the downtown area has to offer. This hotel features a spectacular outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a spa. It also is home to multiple restaurants, and you can even enjoy a cup of Starbucks coffee. Parking is free, and so is your shuttle to the airport.

 

Name: Hill Country Inn and Suites

Every room in this fine property is a suite, and you can even choose one with a full kitchen (instead of the standard microwave and small refrigerator). You can make free local calls and park for free, all while enjoying the pool and spas. Each room is also equipped with two color televisions so you and your spouse can watch that action movie while the kids take in Sesame Street! Laundry facilities are right on-site, and there is a fitness center at the property as well.

 

 

This area is near the Medical Center and includes hotels that are generally accessible from the beltway (Interstate 410) and US-90.  

 

Name: Marriott San Antonio Northwest

This is one of the finest hotels in the entire metropolitan area, including the downtown properties. Marriott’s only full-service property outside downtown, this boasts a fitness center, complimentary airport transportation, and outdoor pool, a restaurant, and even a jogging trail! This hotel also recently underwent a $17-million renovation.

This hotel, also listed as the Best Rated in this area above, is second-to-none when it comes to amenities. In addition to those already mentioned, there are also laundry facilities, babysitting available, concierge services, in-room video games, a marble restroom, and complimentary coffee and newspaper delivery.

 

Name: La Quinta Inn Lackland San Antonio

Location: 6511 Military Drive West

This hotel, extremely conveniently located for all the area attractions, has recently begun offering free high-speed Internet access in every room. There is a complimentary continental breakfast, and you can enjoy not one but two beautiful swimming pools. There is a fitness center on site, and the hotel has recently been renovated.
