Nashville is Music City, USA! So why in the world would you visit and not at least get a little taste of the famous honky tonk country music, contemporary Christian, or blues and jazz? Or if that live music isn’t quite your thing, you can always take advantage of the many other performing arts in Nashville – dance, theatre, and classical music. Here are some of the options you have if you’re on a vacation in Nashville and looking for something to fill a one to three day itinerary:

• “Nightlife” music. From blues, rock, and country to gospel, jazz, and contemporary Christian, Nashville is known for its fun live music atmosphere, small dives where songwriters become legends, and impromptu performances that leave visitors ecstatic and performers energized. The world of music in Nashville is both vibrant and infectious.
• “Classic” music. Feel your stress melt away as your body soaks in the Chopin Nocturne being played by the Grammy-nominated Nashville Symphony. Or delight in a performance by the Nashville Opera or perhaps an off-Broadway show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Check out the “Tribute to the King,” Centennial Park Concert Series, Nashville Chamber Orchestra, and more. Whether it’s costly or free, the money and time you give to the music (whatever style!) in Nashville is sure to be worth the experience!
• Dance. Visit the Nashville Ballet on Redmon, and find out what the rage is all about. While Nashville is known around the world for its music, you will soon discover that its other performing arts, like dance, are certainly not lacking. Nashville offers, in addition to the ballet, the Darkhorse Theater, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and Nashville Symphony Schermerhom Hall as places to enjoy dance.
• Theatre. Does the sound of “Miss Marple's Mystery Dinner Theatre” intrigue you? It should. Nashville’s theatre opportunities are top-notch, and few who take the time on a short vacation to visit them are disappointed. Try ACT I, the Actor’s Bridge Ensemble, Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre, Circle Players, Darkhorse Theater, Mockingbird Theatre, Mystery Comedy of Nashville, Nashville Children’s Theatre, the Nashville Shakespeare Festival, and so many more opportunities available for individuals, couples, or the whole family.
