Knoxville is a quiet city full of history and fun activities to keep you busy. With an annual average temperature of sixty degrees, Knoxville has the perfect weather for enjoying the outdoors.

Knoxville is located in a valley between the Cumberland Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains. Three of America’s busiest interstate highways come together in Knoxville making it easy for traveling.

Anytime you are vacationing in a city which you have never visited, your first stop should be the city’s Visitor Center. Knoxville has a new Visitor Center which is a little out of the ordinary. In addition to the brochures and lodging and activity suggestions with which they can supply you, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy live lunchtime music from the radio station WDVX which attempts to bring back the mid-day live radio shows with the Blue Plate Special. You can also buy gourmet coffee, fresh baked goods, and locally made gifts at the Visitor’s Center. The Visitor Center is located at 301 South Gay Street in downtown Knoxville.

There are several annual festivals you won’t want to miss if you happen to be in Knoxville at the right time.

• Autumn on the Square – Runs from September through October in Market Square which is located in downtown Knoxville. A series of fall outdoor concerts on Thursday evenings.
• Boomsday – Knoxville’s Labor Day fireworks show held at the downtown waterfront.
• Christmas in the City – Knoxville’s annual winter festival. Special events take place almost every day including the Christmas Candlelight Tours of 18th century homes in Knoxville, the Fantasy of Trees, and a presentation of the Nutcracker.
• Dogwood Arts Festival - There are more than 60 miles of marked dogwood trails that weave throughout the city’s neighborhoods. There are free bus tours of the dogwoods during the city’s 17 day Dogwood Arts Festival which occurs in the month of April. There is also food, art, and music at the Dogwood Arts Festival.
