Switzerland’s great number of mountains has influenced the business of leisure in the country, as well as the activities of the Swiss people. They have become very sports minded because of the continued growth and success of the skiing industry in their country. Another popular sport in some areas is Swiss-style wrestling. Hornussen, a sport that is a cross between baseball and golf, and Sunday morning shooting sessions are traditional Swiss sports. Other more common sports in Switzerland include tennis, golf, ice hockey, football (or soccer), basketball, paragliding, sailing, volleyball, hiking, and mountain biking. Fishing is somewhat common, but a license is required. When the lakes freeze over in the winter, the locals use them for curling and horse and dog racing, especially in the St. Moritz area.
