The Museum d'Histoire Naturelle is one of Switzerland's most popular museums, approximating 250,000 visitors each year. It has been open since 1966 and is free to the public. The permanent exhibition contains wildlife that includes 88 species of mammals and 193 species of birds, exotic animals, the history of the Earth complete with dinosaur skeletons, and an impressive presentation of minerals. The Museum d'Histoire Naturelle offers a cafe and a shop, and the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable.
