For the most part life in Sweden is comparable to life in America. The daily life styles of the two cultures are very similar. Like in America several of the holidays celebrated have a religious significance. Sweden is primarily a country where the class system has no bearing. There really is no blue collar or white collar pay differential in Sweden. Many blue collar workers can earn just as much if not more than high ranking white collar workers. For that reason people in Sweden for the most part do not let what you do for a living impact social standing. Many people outside of Sweden have the impression that Swedes are cold and unfriendly which is not the case at all. The Swedish society is welcoming and friendly. There are almost never heated public discussions in Sweden instead there tend to be calm discussions and debates.
