The country of Sweden is made up of 21 counties or Län. Each one of the counties has its own government much like the individual states in the U.S. The counties have their own separate County Administrative Board which is a government appointed council as well as a LandshÅvding which is the Swedish word for governor. The County Administrative Board works to maintain the goals set for the county as well as national goals put into place by the national government. There are also municipalities that make up the counties much like the states in the United States. Each municipality has cities and towns with in it as well. Listed below are some of the main counties as well as cities that make up Sweden.
