In 1951 the Law on Freedom of Religion was established and allowed people in Sweden to practice what ever religion they chose to. The Lutheran religion which had for many years been the main religion in Sweden has seen its numbers decline over recent years. There are growing numbers of Jewish and Catholic Swedes as well as a large Muslim population of 200,000 to 400,000 Swedish followers.
