The 11th and 12th centuries brought about the Christianization of Sweden. Many people converted to Christianity during this time. During this time the Nordic countries of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, were united under the Kelmar Union which governed the three countries under one monarchy. However there was constant tension between the three countries over how each one conducted itself which ultimately led to the dissolution of the Kelmar Union in 1536. After that each country was governed under their own monarchy.
