Today, get ready to visit two of Stockholm’s most famous museums. After eating breakfast at your hostel, head toward the Vasa Museum. This museum is not only Sweden’s most visited museum, but also Scandinavia’s. This museum is located on the only remaining 17th century ship in the world- the Vasa. Discovered in 1961, the Vasa was completely restored and opened as a museum in 1990. The museum contains artifacts that depict what life would have been like on the ship. There are also countless films and slideshows that tell more of the ship’s history.

Once you are done looking around, grab a seat at the museum’s wonderful restaurant. This will be a delicious meal and a great rest after your morning of sight seeing.

After your meal, take a stroll through Stockholm’s other famous museum, the Skansen. The Skansen is located on the same island as the Vasa Museum and is the world’s first open-air museum. When you walk around this museum you will feel as if you’ve transported into another world of traditional farmhouses, schools, and windmills. The Skansen also includes a zoo that houses native and exotic animals.

Before leaving the Skansen, grab a bite to eat at the Bredablick, a brick tower that has a café near the top. Besides great food, this café also offers stairs that lead up to an observation deck that will allow you to view Skansen from above.

Once you are done at Skansen, be sure and take in all that Stockholm has to offer at night. Thanks to the 24,000 islands that are located around Stockholm, a stroll at night around the waterside is one of the best ways to end your evening.
