Day Three

For your final day in Stockholm, it’s time to get out into the open! A great way to start your day is by getting a good view of the cloisters of islands that Stockholm has surrounding its city. The only way you will get to see most of them, however, is by one of the many tour boats that the city has to offer. There are several to choose from, and the prices and lengths of the trips vary. Most of them depart from Stromkajen, which is close to the National Museum.

Grab a bite to eat on the boat or in a nearby café and then take a short walk to Stadshuset, also known as City Hall. The Swedes themselves call this the most beautiful building in Sweden, so it is definitely one that you do not want to miss. It was built between 1911 and 1923, and includes the “Blue Hall”, where the Noble Prize banquet is held every year. Continue on, and you’ll see the ‘Golden Hall’ that is literally dripping with gold. Be sure and check out the view of Old Town you get from the top of the tower.

To end your last night in Stockholm right, don’t miss one of Europe’s most unique hot spots- the Ice Bar. Located at the Nordic Sea Hotel in the Normalm part of the city, this is a full working bar that it entirely made up of ice. Be sure and dress warm because the bar is kept at a constant temperature of negative five degrees Celsius. This is a “cool” way to end your stay in Stockholm.

This is just an example of what your itinerary could look like if you visit Stockholm this year. Whether you try to see all the sites or just relax in one of Stockholm’s beautiful hotels, you are sure to have a memorable stay.
