Every lake that you visit is going to be a little different than all the others; it'll have its own personality, available activities, and typical clientele. So before planning a summer trip to any lake that you haven't visited before, be sure to check with either customer service or someone who's been to find out what your options will be. Some lakes have "beaches" while others are known for the rocks you can jump off into the water. Some lakes are crystal clear; some you're definitely going to need to wear water shoes in. But wherever you go, you're sure to have a ton of summer fun! Better yet - many of the possibilities for fun at the lake are suitable for children, teens, and adults; so it's the perfect family vacation. Find out if any of these exciting lake activities sound enticing to you:
• Rafting. Depending on the lake, this could be rough rafting, but more likely than not it'll just be a fun day trip out exploring the nooks and crannies of the lake.
• Swimming. Swimming's always a great option at the lake. Also check to see if your lake has an area actually designed for swimming. If so, they may have water slides and areas great for kids.
• Hiking. If you tired of the water, take a break by hiking around the lake or nearby woods (as is often the case). Once again, this can be quality family time.
• Renting water equipment. Want to go boating? How about paddle-boating? Or maybe getting two Jet Skis and having a little family competition is more your style. Any of these are options on the lake, and if you don't have your own equipment, there are probably sets to rent. In addition to boats, paddleboats, and Jet Skis, you can probably also find kayaks, water bicycles, and more.
