Ice cream machines simply freeze a pre-made mixture, so the first thing you need to do is to prepare your mixture. Ice cream mixtures will have a dairy base, but regardless of the exact base you use, make sure that your mixture only totals about ¾ the capacity of your ice cream machine. When you complete the blend, place it in the refrigerator for anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
Once the mixture is chilled, assemble your ice cream machine (if necessary), before finally taking the metal freezer bowl out of your freezer. Shake it, and if you cannot hear the liquid within the metal, it is frozen and ready to use. Once you have inserted the freezer bowl into its spot, begin pouring the mixture into the bowl, and turn on the machine. If your machine allows it, you can add ingredients during the process, but wait until the churning process is nearly complete before adding ingredients. Churning times vary but may be around thirty minutes. Wait for the churning to stop and then transfer your ice cream to an airtight container and store it in the freezer. You can eat it right away, wait a few hours, or keep it for days.
When you have finished using your ice cream machine, clean the freezer bowl, lid, and mixing arm using warm soapy water. Don’t put the freezer bowl in the dishwasher, put metal utensils in it, or clean it with rough cleaners, as those actions well harm the bowl. Using a damp cloth, wipe down the base of the motor; then dry everything and put it away.
Once the freezer bowl is dry and empty, wrap it in a plastic bag and store it in the freezer. You don’t have to store the bowl in the freezer, but if you do, it will be ready as soon as you want it in the future and you won’t have to wait for it to refreeze. You never know when you might want more ice cream.
There’s no limit to the different kinds of ice cream you can make. Chocolate, strawberry, banana, butter pecan, vanilla, chocolate chip, apple, and more, can all be great choices. In addition, you can also use your ice cream machine to make frozen drinks or desserts.
