How do you Snow Ski?

Snow Skiing has been described by some as somewhat difficult and frustrating to pick up. However, do not let this discourage you. The best piece of advice to give a first time Snow Skier is you will fall down. But, when you do, just pick yourself up and try again. Take breaks if you get tired, and take your time. The first skill of skiing a person would need to learn would be how to put their gear on. Ski boots are put on first. Once the boots are strapped on, the person is ready to “click” into his/her skis. This is quite simple in that the ski boots are designed to attach to the skis and “click” when they are secure. The last piece of equipment needed is the ski poles. The straps attached to the ski poles are placed around the skier’s wrists. Then the skier proceeds to the ski lift and takes a ride to the top of the mountain. Once at the top, the skier is ready to ski down the mountain. This is done by pointing the skis toward the bottom of the mountain. To keep from gaining too much speed, the skier can ski in an “S” shape down the hill, going side to side. This technique is done by shifting your weight from one leg to another, back and forth. In order to slow down to a stop, a skier should work his/her skis into a pie shape with the front tips of his/her skis forming the point.
