What should skiers look for when purchasing ski boots? First and foremost, comfort is a priority. When you consider that you will spend an average of seven hours a day in a ski boot, skiers will want to make sure their feet are very comfortable. Next, be sure that the boot has firm support to allow your legs to swing into ski movements, however, the boot must also have enough forward flex at the ankle. Finally, the boot must firmly secure your foot, primarily the skiers’ heel.

Ski boots used to be rear-entry; however, most ski boots today are front-entry which ultimately provides the skier with greater control. There are some basic tips skiers will want to keep in mind regarding ski boots:
• Do not over-tighten your boots
• Do your first couple runs each day with your boots a little looser than normal
• Keep your toenails trimmed
• Take out your inners at night if they appear wet
• Loosen your boots when you are on the chair lift

These tips will add additional comfort to skiers as they hit the slopes.

The following boots have good ratings among consumers:
• Atomic Beta Race Titanium
• Dolomite Free Carve
• Nordica Exopower 9.0
