For Scuba Diving, it is required that all wanting to join in will need to have a general good bill of health. If an individual is on certain medication or suffers from conditions such as Epilepsy then it could put them at risk when starting the dive. Always refer to instructors with any problems that could endanger lives. Never ignore a possible problem that could turn into an emergency.
It is essential that you are able to swim unaided for a good length, you will be looking at about 250 feet for a basic dive. If you are unable to swim without aid then you would not be able to proceed with such a task.
It may seem disheartening but the instructors want the best for all their divers and taking such an unnecessary risk is unheard of. Enrol for swimming lessons and when you can swim unaided with no problems then you will be able to book that once in a lifetime trip.
Top Tip: The age limit will vary on open water diving but the average age is 12 and onwards. It will be expected of parents/guardians to sign a consent form to confirm they are completely happy for the dive to go ahead.
