Overall, San Diego is a flourishing telecommunications, biomedical technology and research industry, as well as a strong military and manufacturing base. While National defense and the military used to hold center stage and they still play a significant role, the past several years have been dominated by the emerging technology and bioscience industries. Now one in eight San Diegans works in the booming bioscience arena, while nationally prominent wireless communications companies continue to grow. Agriculture, especially avocados, citrus and flowers, is a key industry, as well as a fun hobby for man San Diegans. All of this is bolstered by the fact that San Diego is one of the nation’s most popular convention and tourist destinations in the country. This could definitely be due in part to its world-class golf courses and top-notch entertainment and theatrical facilities. San Diego is known for an array of things, the gamut of which could not begin to be covered in one paragraph! It is a dynamic and ever growing and evolving city that seems to never stop “becoming!”
