One of the two major regions in San Diego is the Downtown Region. Nowhere are San Diego’s growth and desirability more apparent than downtown, an area that has seen a lot of new development and a surge in residential housing in recent years. Housing in the downtown areas can range from one bedroom condos priced in the high $300,000s to multimillion dollar penthouses. Downtown’s diversity is drawing a variety of newcomers to the area. Those who want to retire or invest; younger people who are looking for the hip and happening scene; empty nesters looking to downsize to a different pace; and those who live in the beach communities who want a second home downtown.
Then there is North County which has been steadily been building for decades. The communities which are Inland – Escondido, Fallbrook, Mira Mesa, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, San Marcos, Scripps Ranch and Vista – now have some of the hottest properties in the county. Different communities have varied housing prices as you can find a home in San Marcos for around $420,000, while you’ll spend a minimum of $900,000 as you move toward the beaches in Carlsbad and Solana Beach. Demand matters and as you move towards the North County beaches, desirability increases, and so do housing prices.
