Your first stop in Rhode Island should be the Welcome Center. Located on I-95 north in Richmond, just north of the Rhode Island/Connecticut state line, the Welcome Center is open seven days a week year-round. The center is operated by the Rhode Island Tourism Division staff and is a good place to get literature and advice on activities to do and see in the state of Rhode Island. Most hotels will also offer brochures and advice on activities available.
Assuming that you are staying in Newport, and you definitely should, we will start your week’s itinerary in the city of Newport. Of course, you can drive from one end of the state to the other in 45 minutes so traveling from one city to another is never a long process.
