AM and PM Activity
One of the most historic towns in Portugal is Oporto and when you visit, you will see the 1,000 years worth of history really come to life. This urban landscape offers hillside views that overlook the Douro River and this mixed with the makes it an excellent day out.
There are various monuments that range from cathedrals and its Portuguese style churches. Oporto is located on one of the most northerly areas in Portugal. Originally known as Portus or Port it later changed from its roman name to Oporto.
Dinner
If you want to make a night of it and stay in Oporto then there are variety of great restaurants including several Brazilian eateries so almost all tastes are catered for.
One restaurant that you should visit is the Mariazinha eatery found in the northern suburb of Matosinhos. It is noted as the best fish restaurant in town. There is an extensive wine list and excellent meals but the restaurant in general doesn’t take reservations so my advice is to arrive there early to get a good table. It is not the easiest of places to find so if may need to search really hard. Should you need directions then you can contact the restaurant on 351 22 923 8461.
