» How do I choose a pet bed?
Measure your pet as it is lying down, from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail; then add 5 or 6 inches (12 cm) to your total—it is far better to buy a bed that is oversized than undersized. Choose the next size up if you are not certain.
Does it sleep curled up or sprawled out? Use this assessment to help determine the size of your pet's bed.
Notice your pet's behavior. Does it like to chew on its things? Does it prefer warmth or cold? Do its joints hurt? (Note that even some cats like chewing on things—usually specific things, like the heels of high-heeled shoes—but most cat furniture is not designed to be chew proof.) Consider these factors to limit your choices for pet bed type.
How easy is the pet bed to enter and exit? A jump entrance is fine if your pet is young, but what of an older one? Or what of when your young pet ages?
How well does the pet bed support your pet? Ensure that its support is strong, particularly for the torso joints and back.
How easy is it to clean? All pet beds should be cleaned regularly, some more often than others. No matter the type, ease of cleaning will make any pet bed easier to use.
As with any item, you need not overpay for unneeded features.
