Cat Condos and Climbing Trees offer the same claw-sharpening outlet as a scratching post, but can serve as a greater source of entertainment and even a place for your cat to rest. They are created to satisfy their needs to climb, play, exercise, and even hide.

Cat condos come in many shapes, sizes, colors, fabrics and materials. This allows you to choose the right kind for your cat’s personality, as well as your home décor. They can be made of pressed wood or plywood, and can be covered in anything from fleece to faux fur, carpet or sisal. They can be one story tall, or reach up to several stories for active climbers.

When purchasing a cat condo, be sure to test its sturdiness and look for one that is rugged and durable since your cat will undoubtedly spend hours at play or sleep with this type of cat furniture. Also, check the maximum weight allowed before you purchase your cat condo, as some cat condos have limits of only 40 pounds. This can be fine if you have just one cat, but you may need to look for an additional condo or a unit with a higher weight limit if you have multiple kitties.

Climbing Trees are very similar to cat condos, but look more like jungle gyms for cats with platforms to lie on, holes to climb in and even beds or hammocks for sleeping. The higher your budget, the more complex the climbing tree can become. Don’t forget to ensure its sturdiness before purchasing. The taller the climbing tree, the wider the base needs to be.
