• Music – As Peru has been an area for many archaeological discoveries, it has been found over the last couple of decades that some of first musical instruments have been found. Amazingly these have lasted the test of time because it was discovered this ancient instruments date back 10,000 years and there was a variety of trumpets made from sea conch known as quenas, zamponas and pututos. Other instruments were found such as drums and these too made out of natural elements such as mud and precious metals. You will find that most of these are in honour of a patron saint and a major date in the Christian calendar – with a large number of Roman Catholics throughout the area, there is always a major celebration at any time of the year. Such festivals are held with the pagan ritual of worships and some of these celebrations date back to the first native tribes that lived in Peru centuries ago.
• Art – During the reign of the Incas around 1530 B.C. a major art form for the area was pottery. As clay was one of the many natural resources available in the area at this time, the locals managed to become masters at their craft and today this is a trait that still continues. Throughout many parts of Peru you will find many locals producing many great works of art and in all shapes and sizes. You will find many museums dedicated to the art that was produced many centuries ago and along the coastal areas, there are many art galleries that showcase today’s modern talents.
