The Coastal Zone (known as Costa) is an area that is very dry and Is located between the Pacific shore and surrounded by many high cliffs and due to its location, you will be able to make out the Andes found close by in the east.
In the north you will find that the land is substantially lower than its neighbouring areas as it comprises of flat, arable land and this is an area that is commonly used for farming due to nearby water supplies to irrigate the land but as the majority of locals tend to live away from this area (due to the general dry environment) and more towards the foothills of the Andes, the population is subsequently lower.
The south of the Coastal zone has a slightly different feel to it as it a hillier region than in the north and whilst it has the same farming facilities available, you will find that there is a wide range of deep gorges. Some of the deep basins throughout the local area are linking this and the Andes together.
