Located near the Bay of Portebelo, you will find the snorkeling haven of Puerto Francis. Upon arrival, you can enjoy the facility's fantastic view of the Caribbean. There are several fringe reefs in this area, all excellent snorkeling destinations. Formations include Brain and Sheet coral, Sea fans, Staghorns and Rods. As you explore the reefs, it is likely that you will see schools of Snapper, Angels, Jacks and Blue tang. Other possibilities include Parrotfish, Trunkfish, Damselfish and Fire worms. You can also visit the historic town of Portobelo, home to the famed Black Christ, and the site of several fortress ruins. This port City has a rich history. In the late 16th century, Sir Francis Drake, the English pirate, entered this body of water and launched his attack on Portobelo. The Spanish fortresses failed to prevent him from sacking this wealthy port.
