Chiriqui’s combination of highlands and abundant rainfall makes the conditions ideal for whitewater rafting. Descending from the sides of the Volcano, these rivers have been hailed by many rafters to be some of the best stretches of river throughout Central America. You can take both day trips as well as multi-day trips on the Chiriqui and Chiriqui Viejo rivers in various river classifications. These river trips offer exceptional glimpses of remote areas of Chiriqui that in some instances are virtually only reachable by your river craft. Some of these rivers take you through untouched gorges and to little known but magnificent waterfalls that tower about you as they spill into the river.

The best places for diving are Hospital Point, Coral Key, Dark Wood Reef and Punta Juan buoy. For snorkeling, the Garden near Cayo Nancy, Hospital Point and Punta Juan buoy are excellent. You can hire a water taxi and go on your own, or go with a diving tour. When diving in Bocas you will be able to see some of the best preserved hard and soft coral in the world. You may also see stingrays, lobsters, many species of crabs and a variety of tropical reef fish.
