• Arc – Circular rotating pattern of the sprinkler’s spray. A spirnkler with a 360 degree arc will complete a full circle.
• Check Valve – Device faciliatating the movement of water in one direction only.
• Controller – The brains of the system used to automatically turn an irrigation system on and off.
• Drip Tubing – Also referred to as poly tubing because it is made from polyethylene. It is available in various sizes and is measured in “inside diameters” and “outside diameters.”
• Main Line – The pipe connecting the water supply to the control valves in each zone of the irrigation system.
• PSI – An abbreviation for pounds per square inch.
• Rotors – Sprinklers discharging a steady flow of water to specific areas.
• Spray Head – Sprinkler heads containing nozzles that spray water in circular patterns.
• Stations – Zones of the irrigation system that are controlled by separate valves.
• Zone – A specific area of the irrigation system which is under the control of a specific valve. The zone receives the signal from the controller to open the valves to water a specific area for a specified amount of time.
