When you picture a big zapper, you probably see the large black ones that resemble the top of a lamp post. While this style of bug zapper is still available, and widely used, there are many other types and styles of bug zappers on the market today. There are now indoor models as well as outdoor models. There are permanent and portable models.

Several companies offer a small, plug-in zappers that resemble an air freshener. They are advertised as being quieter and more discreet, but still powerful enough to clear a room of bugs. They are recommended for indoor use only, and many also serve as a nightlight.

Another recent innovation is cordless the bug zapper. They come in many shapes and sizes – including a lantern-shaped version from Coleman. This allows for bug zapping anywhere by eliminating the need for an outlet.

Perhaps the most recent bug zappers to hit store shelves are bug zapping racquets. Resembling a badminton or tennis racquet, these bug zappers – which come in both corded and cordless versions – allow the user to get just the insects that are bugging them personally. They are safe for use around kids and pets but powerful enough to take care of any bug you swing it at.
