» Should I buy a front-loading or top-loading stove?
Many of the new model stove manufacturers give you the option to purchase a front-loading stove or a top-loading unit. The main complaint concerning front-loading stoves is that they are too messy. Pulling logs in or out or shoveling in coal can become a messy experience with a front-loading stove.
The top-loading stove is becoming the model of choice for many homeowners. The top-loading units are cleaner in application and cleaner looking. Instead of massive handled openers on the front, the stoves now come with sleek openings on top of the unit. Loading the stove from the top is less messy and safer as the homeowner is less likely to pull out sparks, embers, or have lit pieces of wood or coals fall out onto the floor.
