Woodstove tools are most often sold in sets. Choosing the best one for your should be based on the tools you need of your purposes and the style of the tools that matches your décor. The usually come in wrought iron and brass. Check for quality construction that will stand up to the rigors of use with your woodstove’s heat and fire.
  • Shovel.  The metal shovel is needed to remove ashes and rearrange coals and small logs.
  • Tongs. Tongs allow you to pick up hot or even burning logs inside the stove and to safely rearrange them.
  • Poker. A poker is used to stir and rearrange the logs for a more optimal burn.
  • Broom. A small broom is helpful for sweeping up wood debris and ashes from around the stove.
  • Rake. Some fire tool sets also include a small metal rake that is used to rake the ashes either out of the stove or through a grate into the ash compartment below.
